Ngulon!

Ngulon.
Going to the West (again)

Looks like an epic movie of an old American cowboy setting, or maybe, for Chinese people, and Asians, that epic story about Sun Go Kong (the monkey king!) who accompany a Priest to search the holy Buddhist script in India *PS Dont forget Pat Kai the Pig!

Ah so old-school. Lets go to Indonesia. Now.
You dont meet that word so often in the media.
They describe it as this...
"Counter Flow of Lebaran Mudik"

What is Lebaran? An Islamic Holy day, more known as Eid Al-Fitr in other Moslem countries. But we t, as usual, as fvcking creative as we always had been since the beginning of time (both in good and sarcastic ways), just made lots of new traditions on this. (Oh, fundamentalists, dont kill me for this writing please :) )
The hell is Mudik? A yearly tradition around Lebaran times, where people from big cities come back to visit their big family. And when I say people from big cities, I mean, yes, NEARLY EVERYONE, comes back to the "homeland". Just to gather with the family, again.

Well wait, that sounds like Christmas.
Nah, this is even bigger than Christmas. We say big family, it is BIG family.
Including those who still have the same great-great-grandfather/mother than you.

And just to picture. How crazy Mudik is. Lets say about 20 Million people going out from big cities all over Indonesia back to the villages. 10% of the population of Indonesia.
Imagine the crowd. The craziness in the streets. Even though some of us take the train, aeroplane or ferries, stilll, roads have it the most.
My family (of three!) is just one of them. (Dont forget those families of 8-10 people, those who have 5 or more kids!)
Minuscule.
Dwarfish.
Chaotic.
The madness of both people streaming out from the cities to the villages.
And... BACK.

Oh yes, you may have guessed it
FYI I just returned home, after an exhausting 16 hours on the car...
Only for a 500 kilometre stretch. While normally may take only 8-10 hours.

Thats simply 'cause...
Holiday's over, folks! Back to reality.
Back to the West.

Like my Grandfather says.
Ngulon.

And with reality too....
Means time to write again.
And upload some pics again.

Be excited for it folks :)
Good night!
